5. With an estimated budget of $100 million the film cost more than the total box office profits of all the previous Apes films combined ($81.7 million).
4. A Planet of the Apes remake had been in development Hell since the 1980s. At one point in the early 1990s Arnold Schwarzenegger was set to be the film’s lead, and later on in the decade we almost got to see James Cameron as director.
