Text Version:

5. ACTION!
This was the first of two Star Trek films to be directed by cast member Jonathan Frakes, who plays Commander Riker. He had previously directed episodes of the TV series and is now a regular on the American circuit. He also directed the 2004 film Thunderbirds.

4. THAT THING YOU DIDN’T DO
James Cromwell plays the inventor of warp speed, Dr Zefram Cochrane, however the role was originally intended for Tom Hanks. Since Hanks couldn’t fit it into his schedule, (he was busy directing ‘That Thing You Do’), the producers turned to Cromwell as he had done a great job playing various other roles throughout the series.

3. LONG REIGN
South African actress Alice Krige would reprise her role as the Borg Queen in an episode of Star Trek: Voyager despite the fact her character appears to come to an end in First Contact.

2. MUSICAL FAMILY
Joel Goldsmith collaborated with his father Jerry on the film’s score. He would later work solo on the Stargate franchise. Sadly, Joel would only outlive his father by 8 years, passing away in 2012.

1. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE
Star Trek: First Contact was made on a budget of $45 million and returned a sum of almost $150 million, making it the most successful of the series before J.J. Abrams 2009 film.
