5. British TV personality John Sessions plays the part of Lord Boothby, although he does not receive a credit for the performance.

4. Controversially the film made a 2 star review from The Guardian look like a 4 star endorsement on its poster by strategically placing the stars between the Kray characters’ heads. It did receive 4 star reviews from 9 other newspapers however, and even a couple of 5 star reviews from The Mirror and Sunday Express.

3. A scene in the film depicts Reggie Kray (Tom Hardy) physically abusing wife Frances (Emily Browning), although friends and family of the two dispute that their relationship was ever of such a nature.

2. Writer and director Brian Helgeland met up with Freddie Foreman, a well-known associate of the Krays, in order to help develop the script. Having shared drinks with him at his local pub, the writer / director was surprised to learn that they didn’t have to pay their bar bill, with Freddie giving the simple explanation ‘we don’t pay’.

1. Pop star Duffy makes an appearance in the film as singer Timi Yuro, only her second ever acting credit, her first being 2010 film Patagonia.
