5. Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard) was paid $14 million for his role in the film, his highest-ever Star Trek wage. He got $9.5 million for Star Trek: Insurrection and only $5 million for Star Trek: First Contact.

4. This is the second most expensive Trek film made before the J.J. Abrams era. Unfortunately it is the lowest-grossing Star Trek film of all time, only just managing to scrape in $67 million at the box office, only $7 million more than its budget. As a result the franchise lay dormant for 7 years.

3. Music for the film was composed by Jerry Goldsmith, the final feature film he scored before his death 2 years later.

2. According to producer Rick Berman 50 minutes of material were cut from the film before release, which included a cameo from character Wesley Crusher (Wil Wheaton), who had been a regular on the TV show for 4 seasons

1. In one scene X-Men (2000) and X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) director Bryan Singer has a small role as a bridge officer.
